Communications at St. James's Church
St. James's Church has several means of keeping parishioners informed about matters related to our life together. The most current and frequent source of information is here on our website. The weekly Sunday worship bulletins and our monthy parish newsletter provide timely information on parish activities. Regular emails from the parish office provide updated and pertinent information to parishioners.
Our Organization
Parish Administration is a responsibility shared by parishioners, the Vestry, the Rector and the Assistant Rector, and other staff. The Annual Meeting of the parish is held the last Sunday in January. At this ttime, reports on the previous year are delivered and elections are held for Vestry members and parish officers, and delegates and alternates to Diocesan Convention and the Deanery.
The Vestry is the governing body of the parish and is composed of the Rector, the Assistant Rector, Senior and Junior Wardens, a Clerk, a Treasurer, and twelve Vestry members. The Vestry meets on the third Tuesday of the month from September to June. Parishioners are welcome to sit in on Vestry meetings. As the legal governing body of the parish, the Vestry approves the parish budget and makes decisions on parish policy. Vestry members are proposed by the Nominating Committee and serve for three-year terms; terms for the Clerk, Treasurer, and Wardens are one year. Each Vestry member serves on one of the following Standing Committees: Finance, Property, Education, Outreach, Endowment, Stewardship, Newcomer Incorporation, and Music.
