MINISTRIES: Other Offerings for Children and Youth
Children's Liturgy
At the 9:30 service, the children from age three through third grade are
invited to follow the second cross during the procession out of the church
into the parish hall. During the children's liturgy we read the gospel and
explore the Word through games, music and art. We also do the Prayers
of the People together and have a moment of silent prayer before we
return to the church and join our families. The children's liturgy is offered
most Sundays during the program year.
Acolytes
Acolytes grow spiritually in the church by actively assisting the clergy in the
worship of God at regular Sunday services and other special services.
Acolytes perform a variety of duties including carrying the cross in procession
(crucifer), carrying the torches (torch bearer), and carrying the Gospel book
(Gospel bearer). They also assist the celebrant in preparing the Altar for the
Eucharist. All youth from the 4th grade through high school are encouraged
to serve as acolytes.
Middle School Youth Group
Middle School youth group meets monthly for fun and fellowship. Past events include game night,
sleepovers, bowling, movie nights and haunted hay rides. This group is open to all members of
St. James's and their friends that are in sixth through eighth grade. A schedule of events is available
through the church office.
Other Offerings
First Friday Family Night
This is a great event held every first Friday of each month from 5:30 to 7 in the evening in the Dining Room located on the lower level of the Parish House. Come and enjoy pizza, games for the kids and/or a movie with other families of the parish. It's a great way for parishioners and their children to get to know one another better.
You do not have to belong to St. James's to attend, so invite
your friends. For more information or to RSVP, contact the parish office.
