MINISTRIES: Outreach Opportunities
The goal of outreach at St. James's is to minister to those in need in
our local community, the nation, and the world through the contribution of time, talents and financial support.

Members of the parish:
Prepare food for Loaves & Fishes, South Park Inn and
My Sister's Place
Make 200 Identical Sandwiches four Sundays each month
for Loaves & Fishes
Provide 'Brown Bag Lunches' once a month for Loaves & Fishes
Donate to a food collection the second Sunday of each month
Donate items for seasonal special outreach projects: school
supplies for kids in shelters, toiletries for holiday stockings,
Easter baskets for shelters, and other special needs.
Members of the parish participate in organizations which provide opportunities
to extend outreach through the contribution to time, talent, and financial
support.
A Hand Up
gathers and delivers household goods to people
moving out of homelessness into independent living.
Foodshare
is the food bank for all the feeding agencies and
programs in Hartford and Tolland counties.
Habitat for Humanity
 is an ecumenical Christian housing
ministry with a goal of eliminating poverty housing and homelessness.
Loaves and Fishes Ministries
is a soup kitchen food pantry with
numerous counseling programs aimed at ending the cycle of poverty.
My Sister's Place
is a woman's emergency shelter and transitional
housing program.
Kairos
is a prison ministry program that brings together prisoners
to explore Christian faith.
Friends of St. Vincent's Center
is a group of volunteers formed in
1997 to help the children and staff at St. Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti obtain the resources needed to educate and care for the children. Their mission statement is to provide service, supplies and support to the children and staff at St. Vincent's Center, a residential school, day school, orphanage and hospital for over 300 handicapped children. South Park Inn
is an emergency shelter and transitional housing for
men, women and children.
In addition, financial gifts are made to local, national and international ministries and programs.
