MINISTRIES: Outreach Opportunities
The goal of outreach at St. James's is to minister to those in need in
our local community, the nation, and the world through the contribution of time, talents and financial support.

to explore Christian faith.
is a group of volunteers formed in
1997 to help the children and staff at St. Vincent's Center for Handicapped Children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti obtain the resources needed to educate and care for the children. Their mission statement is to provide service, supplies and support to the children and staff at St. Vincent's Center, a residential school, day school, orphanage and hospital for over 300 handicapped children. is an emergency shelter and transitional housing for
men, women and children.
In addition, financial gifts are made to local, national and international ministries and programs.
Outreach
Members of the parish also contribute time and energy to the St. James's Garden. This garden is located on the grounds of the parish and supplies fresh produce to the people in Hartford's North End through the Hartford Catholic Worker. Fresh vegetables and herbs are grown and then harvested when ready. The produce is then brought down to the Catholic Worker and distributed to those in need. This year's garden yielded a high volume of produce! Anyone can volunteer - adults and children. Contact the parish office for more information.
